This bug is preventing me from completing my upgrade.

I do not have a graphical interface yet because xserver is not starting
due to this bug:

Essentially, I am at a standstill until this is resolved or I am given a
suggestion to temporarily resolve this.  I welcome any recommendation or
suggestion.
