When I use Guidance to change the cpu policy 'down' (from performance to dynamic, dynamic to powersafe or performance to powersafe) the screen is locked. After unlocking the screen, the policy has been changed successfully though. 
I use a NEC versa p550 laptop running kubuntu 8.10 with KDE 4.2, the version of Guidance is 4.4.1.2
