Usually, quirks are applied using the PCI ID (major computer vendors
have their own specific ID for the subsystem). In this case, both the
System and Subsystem IDs are 8086:27ae, which is the generic Intel one,
so disabling LVDS based on that will break all laptops with this
specific ID (looks like among others the Eee 901 has the same PCI ID).
It is possible that one can quirk based on something else, so thank you
for including the output of lshw. I think it is possible to quirk based
on DMI data, so please upload the output of `sudo dmidecode`.

Also, since we're in the bug-fixing stage of the upcoming Ubuntu release
Jaunty, it would be great if you could verify that this is still an
issue there (I bet it is). You can get the latest alpha version
(currently alpha-5) from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/jaunty/ (you
should be able to do all test from a LiveCD without needing to install
Jaunty to your computer).
