I can confirm this behavior.

It happens because the original author placed a details button for the
notification. in jaunty the whole notification system was replaced by
notify-osd which does not support this feature. so, a message box gets
shown.

There are possible 2 workarounds.
1) Replace notify-osd with the old notifications system
2) Use a patched version for ontv to make it work with the new system
