Well, I restarted and tried opening it again.  Once again it freezes.
It is not in the classic sense where it stops updating the window, but
rather the menus become unavailable (grayed out), as do the playing
controls and the actual audio.  If you can open it, try deleting a track
or opening the file menu, that doesn't work for me.  Actually, for me
exiting doesn't even work (it won't even pop up the force quit window if
you wait, you have to go to the system monitor.)

If it does work for you 100%, then I guess the important thing is
figuring out the difference between your configuration and mine.
