Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: synergy
Synergy2 is old and buggy, in particular facing problems around the
clipboard and typically crashing frequently.
It has not been updated since 2006. However, a small number of forks exist of which the most active appears to be synergy-plus:
http://code.google.com/p/synergy-plus/
There is a Windows installer but it retains cross-platform support in
the source, which is trivial to build on Ubuntu following the
instructions in their wiki. It retains compatibility with existing
configuration files and is a drop-in replacement, but one which is being
maintained.
The current version is 1.3.3, which is not a huge step up from 1.3.1
currently in Ubuntu so adopting it now is not a major undertaking.
Therefore Ubuntu should consider replacing synergy 1.3.1 with synergy-
plus 1.3.3
** Affects: synergy (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
