matplotlib 0.98.5.3-1ubuntu1 failed to build from source on powerpc.
Reason:

dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of texlive-pictures:
 texlive-pictures depends on texlive-base (>= 2007-11); however:
  Package texlive-base is not configured yet.
