[Bug 384670] [NEW] VLC outputs incorrect audio channel

Using VLC and a video with AC3 audio with 3 channels, VLC only outputs
the background sound channel, to both left and right speakers. In the
"codec details" tab, VLC reports the codec as "a52", and "channels" as
3.

Sounds on this channel come through clearly, however stuff like voices
that should be in the foreground aren't audible at all.

I'm using the 3.5 mm stereo audio connector on the back of my computer.
I've tried all the connectors on my computer to make sure I wasn't using
the wrong one, but this is the only one that works to any extent.

In the "Audio" menu, only one track is available, "audio device" is
greyed out, "Audio Channels" only gives options for "stereo", "left",
"right", "reverse stereo".

Using totem for the same file, it works perfectly. Many other
applications also work as expected (eg various audio players, flash
sites in Firefox). I've been using pulse with the default config without
issue. I haven't noticed any issues other than this.

1. OS is Jaunty AMD64.

2. Package is 0.9.9a-2ubuntu1.

3. I expected to hear foreground audio.

4. I heard background audio clearly with no foreground.
