I got this to work by using the following command:

nautilus --browser ~

Don't forget the ~ (tilde) in the end.

Also remember the compiz plugin to the keyboard shortcuts is only a
gconf front-end. You can start up gconf and go under apps/metacity and
manually edit shortcuts to your liking.
