[Bug 407065] [NEW] Extension won't load because of misplaced configuration

Ubuntu releast: 8.04.3 LTS
Package version: php-mcrypt 5.2.3-0ubuntu1
What I expect to happen: the PHP mcrypt extension loads and appears in the output of phpinfo.
What happens instead: the PHP mcrypt extension does not load and does not appear in the output of phpinfo.

Installing this package adds "extension=mcrypt.so" at the end of

/etc/php5/apache2/php.ini
/etc/php5/cgi/php.ini
/etc/php5/cli/php.ini

However, this way it doesn't load (does not appear in phpinfo output),
at least with php5-cgi version 5.2.4-2ubuntu5.6.

Moving this line into a file named "mcrypt.ini" in /etc/php5/conf.d/
solves the problem.
