Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: wicd

I am using Kubuntu Jaunty 64-bit on a Dell Inspiron 15n that shipped
with Ubuntu. The default Kubuntu plasma-widget-network-manager does
connect to my WEP Hex (non-hidden) wireless network, and the default
network manager that ships with Ubuntu also works. Kubuntu and Ubuntu
live CD's also work fine. However, I prefer to use WICD because I find
it more efficient and its always worked, until now.

First, I removed (and purged) the network manager package and the plasma
widget package that ships with Kubuntu. When I installed wicd, it worked
perfectly right away and it connected to my wireless network with no
problems whatsoever. It works for about ten minutes, and then the
connection disconnects. After that, no matter how many times I reboot or
try to reconnect, I will never get the connection back. It hangs at
"obtaining IP address". I MUST purge the wicd package and reinstall it,
then I will get ten more minutes of use before having to purge it and
reinstall it again. wicd works fine on another laptop that is used in
this house, but not mine. My laptop uses a broadcom 4312 rev 01 card.

** Affects: wicd (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
