[Bug 403802] [NEW] vlc doesn't validate drive existence

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vlc

By default, when choosing Media-> Open Disc in vlc, it selects /dev/sr0
by default. Unfortunately, if /dev/sr0 doesn't exist, this doesn't
work. The dropdown selection doesn't do anything at all; I have to type
in /dev/sr1 or /dev/dvd manually.

VLC should probably make sure that the selected device actually
exists...

This is in Karmic

** Affects: vlc (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
