Where did you install 0.9.3 from? How did you install it?

I am using the latest version and I have no problem entering accounts
for split transactions.

For your case, you usually have a brokerage account. That is, a cash
account used for investments. If you haven't created it at the same time
as you created the investment, you can add it as a subaccount with the
same name and "(Brokerage)" at the end.
