[Bug 399892] [NEW] Support for plot mathematical formulas using maxima or octave

I think that lyx already supports interaction with octave and similar. I 
do not know if these can be used to plot functions though. There also is 
the possiblity of insert "external material" of various forms. Please 
consult the lyx documentation or ask for support in the appropriate 
channels related to lyx (outside of ubuntu).

In any case such a feature request does not belong to ubuntu: you should 
talk about enhancements to the lyx developers directly as the ubuntu 
developers are not lyx developers :)

I am going to close this bug report but feel free to reopen if there are 
reasons to think it should be in ubuntu.
