Could it be that this problem is connected to using Totem  media player?
I noticed that the X restart occurs when I watch a movie with totem. I
switched to VLC and ran a few movies as a test (while I was away btw)
and the restart did not occur. I also noticed that VLC and Totem seem to
differ in the way they handle sound. In Totem the sound from the speaker
of my laptop is switched off when I plugin the headphones. In VLC I have
to manually switch the speaker off, plugging in the headphone does not
swich off gthe speaker. I mention this because the error message
mentions something about pulseaudio.
