Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

Gconf Keys for Brasero temp directory are not automatically set up

per comments in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+bug/319640
the gconf key "/apps/brasero/drives/tmpdir" is not loaded when brasero is installed on ubuntu intrepid.
There are other keys in gconf for brasero under key (prefix) "/apps/brasero/", but none for "/apps/brasero/drives".
from what I can tell, when brasero is installed, keys for gconf are added.
not all keys needed are added with brasero as installed,
and there is no add option for gconf-editor.

after going to brasero copy or burn project dialogue and putting a blank
disc in the drive and selecting the properties button and changing the
temp files location and then closing the properties dialogue, the keys
for "/apps/brasero/drives/tmpdir" show up in gconf-editor.

thus, brasero triggers the add of that key.
to allow the bug workaround to work for changing the brasero tempdir location as suggested in comments for bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+bug/319640

until the defect reported in bug report
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+bug/323461
is fixed, or in addition to that fix, the install process (and associated automated configuration) for brasero should update gconf keys and load the keys for "/apps/brasero/drives/tmpdir" so that they can be changed there if a user cant readily work through the sequence of steps to activate and use the properties button in the copy or burn project dialogues.

What happens is that brasero temp directory location cant be easily updated straight after installation.
what I expect to happen is that the user be able to easily update the temp directory property.
by automatically loading the keys for "/apps/brasero/drives/tmpdir" at the time brasero is automatically installed/configured, it would be easy for the user to use gconf-editor to update the temporary directory brasero uses for audio, data, and video burn projects.

I have ubuntu intrepid installed.
brasero 0.8.4 on ubuntu intrepid 8.10 with kernal updated to 2.6.27-9-generic
This bug applied to brasero 0.8.2 and I have since loaded 0.8.4 and it has the same weakness.

** Affects: brasero (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
