I have found in forosuse:

a workaround for the cpu usage, in my case I'm running Intrepid amd64, and FF, and npviewer was consuming 75% of CPU, after aplying the following:
$ sudo nspluginwrapper -v -a -u
The usage decreased to 4 %, incredible!, i have to point aout that the increase in the usage were after I was reconfiguring my video driver and manipulating xorg.conf.
