You're wasting your time.
To use tremulous as an example, (even though this bug now covers more things), it runs by default, eats a lot of RAM, spams the network, (~2-3k, enough to kill dial-up), has knows security flaws that have been bulk-exploited on at least one confirmed occasion (that I've seen), and people who install it have to instantly replace it all in order to get a working server with the features they have come to expect.
Its obvious Ubuntu doesn't care at all about the security of its users, so I'm just going to give up on this.
