same problem "multiple applications have stopped..." "vlc: Playing some
media" (twice) when suspending in Ubuntu Intrepid. The workaround of
setting

 inhibit=1

in   ~/.config/vlc/vlcrc didn't work for me.

Curious enough, not only there's no vlc instance running but also I haven't installed   mozilla-plugin-vlc:
