** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

After using the Ubuntu 8.10 Live CD on my day-old Satellite Pro S200 the
video card (or LCD monitor) has broken permanently.

Now only the top half of the screen displays correctly, and the bottom
  half is just random lines.

I have attached a lspci -vnn I managed to get using the console TTYs on
  the live CD.

Everything was working properly until the video mode was changed during
booting of the Live CD, and now the video card appears to be permanent
broken (i.e. it doesn't work in bios, boot-up, windows or the live cd. I
don't have a monitor to check whether it would work with one
  unfortunately.

I'm planning on returning this computer to the store tomorrow as it may
just be a one-off hardware issue, but I am reporting it here in case it
  isn't a one-off issue.
