I have exactly the same problem with Cheese ! My wc LED light is on but no image is caaptured and no video is recorded too !!  I attached all the files you need right bellow , Mr  Andres Mujica.
I have just upgrade my Hardy and now Im  totally disappointed! Everything in Hardy works like a charm but...now, it's gone!
Here is the Terminal output when I open Cheese.
