As an option, you can download the fonts from the Wolfram site and then
almost follow the instructions to make the package removable:

mkdir /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-mathml
cd /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-mathml
unzip path/to/MathFonts_TrueType_41.exe
defoma-font register-all /etc/defoma/hints/ttf-mathematica4.1.hints

Only now you no longer need to uninstall the broken package, as you got
the fonts where they are needed.
