[Bug 335743] [NEW] Get "There was an error saving:" when save or save-as is used in gnome desktop.

Public bug reported:

I get this error: "There was an error saving:" with a reference to the
file attempted to be used and the file is created but with zero content.
There is no reason given for the error and is repeated no matter what
the image contains and I have to discard my work.
