Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: wine

First of all, this is *not* a duplicate of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wine/+bug/114025

I am running an Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid on an i386 machine, wine version
1.0.1-0ubuntu3~intrepid1.

When I try to use wine or winecfg I always get:
preloader: Warning: failed to reserve range 00110000-60000000
wine: failed to initialize: /usr/lib/wine/ntdll.dll.so: failed to map segment from shared object: Cannot allocate memory

The "sudo sysctl -w vm.mmap_min_addr=0" fix does not work, I already
have vm.mmap_min_addr set to 0.

I tried to execute wine as root, but the bug is still present.

Any ideas?
