I have the same problem with Compiz! I have Ubuntu 8.04, but only a week
ago I updated all the few hundred packages that needed updating using
the automatic updating tool. I got this error message in bash:
"Error of failed request: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for
operation) Major opcode of failed request: 141 (XVideo) Minor
opcode of failed request: 19 () Serial number of failed request: 87
Current serial number in output stream: 88"
With Compiz enabled I couldnt watch any videos with VLC nor Totem. Now after having turned Compiz off it works just fine again.
Do you need more info?
