The fix you mention in compiz-wrapper 0.7.8-0ubuntu1 was actually
reverted by syncing with upstream 0.7.8-0ubuntu9. The bzr change can be
seen here:

I've attached a debdiff that restores it to compiz-wrapper and adds it
to compiz-decorator. Of course, as this illustrates, getting it changed
upstream would be the right thing to do
