I packaged a version of gpac with -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=0. It's in my PPA for jaunty (https://launchpad.net/~gilir/+archive/ppa). Could you please test with this package ( gpac - 0.4.4-0.3ubuntu4~ppa1) ?
