Public bug reported:
Description: Ubuntu jaunty (development branch)
Release: 9.04
Package: (probably) kdebase-workspace-bin 4:4.2.0-0ubuntu4
Using the 'Battery Monitor' plasma applet (installed by default in
Kubuntu Jaunty Alpha 4) to change Power Profiles by selecting one from
the drop-down list. Frequently the entire desktop freezes solid for
several seconds. Sometimes all of plasma disappears and I am left
looking the the default grey background.
Removing the AC adapter from the laptop, which will cause the Power
Profile to change automatically, can also make the desktop freeze in the
same way. Sometimes although nothing freezes it can take 15 seconds or
so before the profile changes, even though the applet changes to show
'On AC' or 'On Battery' immediately.
Even when the profile appears to change, none of the settings associated
with the profile (Screen blanking, CPU profile, lid close action, etc)
are applied.
I'm not sure how to debug this - which log files can I look at?
** Affects: powerdevil (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
