Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: compiz
I have some applications set to start on certain workspaces (viewports,
actually, since we're talking about compiz). I need to switch back to
metacity when I play games. Those applications move to workspace 1. I
can fix this using devilspie, so that's not too much of a problem.
The problem occurs when I start compiz back up. The applications for
which I have viewports defined in Place Windows... they are on viewport
1. Why? I thought I defined them to be on different viewports! It seems
that Place Windows is not applying its fixed viewport rules to existing
windows. If I disable then enable the plugin, nothing happens. And it's
to my understanding that devilspie does not work with compiz. If I close
and then restart the applications in question, they start on the correct
viewport. I can also move them back myself, but this is not desirable.
So here I am reporting this bug. In the meantime, are there any
workarounds I can use?
Ubuntu 8.10. Compiz version is 0.7.8-0ubuntu4.1.
** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu)
