I have this problem also. Expanded steps to recreate


** Changed in: vim-latexsuite (Ubuntu)
       Status: Invalid => New

** Description changed:

  opening a .tex file out of nautlius in gvim you cant do :call Tex_ViewLatex() .
  I set up evince to be called but this doesnt work. If I open gvim out of a shell then it does work und I can view the dvi output in evince. 
  I actually have the current dapper 30. of april

+ -1- Install gvim and latex-suite
+ -2- Change output program to evince
+ ~/.vimrc
+ let g:let g:Tex_ViewRule_pdf = 'evince'
+ -3- Create a latex file
+ -4- from console open .tex file in gvim
+ Notice that view \lv works
+ -5- from nautilus open .tex file in gvim
+ Notice that view \lv fails
