Yes, the delay is gone! But I did it like this:

In libcanberra-login-sound.desktop: I changed it to: X-GNOME-Autostart-
Phase=Application

Startup sound works fine.

I commented out X-GNOME-Autostart-Phase= in gnome-wm.desktop.

It boots extremely fast, but it seems to be a dirty way to do it, as I
get these:

x-session-manager[16626]: WARNING: Unable to find provider 'gnome-wm' of
required component 'windowmanager'

** (nm-applet:16787): WARNING **: No connections defined
Failure: Module initalization failed

(gnome-panel:16778): Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_widget_size_allocate(): attempt

** (nautilus:16779): WARNING **: Can not calculate
_NET_NUMBER_OF_DESKTOPS

** (nautilus:16779): WARNING **: Can not calculate
_NET_NUMBER_OF_DESKTOPS

** (nautilus:16779): WARNING **: Can not get _NET_WORKAREA

** (nautilus:16779): WARNING **: Can not determine workarea, guessing at
layout
