I hope this helps others to investigate the bug further...

I made customs shortcuts for making new blog posts and syncing through
Settings--Configure Shortcuts menu. Using these shortcuts I was able to
make and upload blog posts successfully.

When I hit the customs shortcuts for making a new post, the UI came up
and I could do very much all editing functions and when the shortcut for
sync was hit the new post was uploaded to the server (in my case its
wordpress).
