Problem resolved for MY upgrade/re-install.
It appears that the upgrade 9.04=>9.10 was incomplete and caused the lapse in ZM functionality. A subsequent continuation of the OS upgrade and secondary install of ZM 1.24.x has completed successfully. All is well.
