Fabio,

Are you still experiencing this issue, and if so, are you still on
Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10? There has been improvements to network-manager in
versions 9.04 and 9.10. You might want to look into network-manager in
these versions of Ubuntu, where you have a setting under the VPN
connection dialog, in "Advanced" -> "Routes", a checkbox labelled "Use
this connection only for the networks behind it" (or something similar).
