Public bug reported:

This bug is about very poor performance of iTalc in remote screen
control situation and a request to disable some graphic effects to
address this performance problem.

When viewing or remote-controlling a client, iTalc uses a nice graphical
effect to display the menu when moving the mouse cursor at the top of
the screen.

Some graphic drivers offer poor performance in this situation,
especially when working on a remote display (as is the case with an LTSP
setup). It can take up to 10 seconds when moving the mouse cursor at the
top of the screen to display the menu. For exemple, the Intel video
driver has this problem in Jaunty, which was fixed in Karmic. The same
issues goes with the ATI graphic driver for some chipset, though there
was no improvement in Karmic for this graphic chipset.

Could there be an option in iTalc to disable all graphical effects so
that iTalc can become usable with these graphic chipsets?

** Affects: italc (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
