Sure enough, still in Ubuntu 9.04 this bug is present.
(2.6.28-14-generic #47-Ubuntu SMP Sat Jul 25 01:19:55 UTC 2009 x86_64
GNU/Linux.)

Qemu Version 0.10.0-1ubuntu1.  FWIW I'm running 64 bit (read x86_64)

Perhaps this is an upstream bug?  I just built qemu 0.10.5 from the
tarball on their website, and i still experience the same results.
