Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: apt-show-versions
Hi,
I added the karmic repository to a jaunty installation and set its
priority to 1 (similar to debian experimental). Hence, apt installs and
upgrades using jaunty/jaunty-updates/jaunty-security packages.
For instance, cupsys:
# apt-cache policy cupsys
cupsys:
Installed: 1.3.9-17ubuntu3.2
Candidate: 1.3.9-17ubuntu3.2
Version table:
1.3.11-1 0
1 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/universe Packages
*** 1.3.9-17ubuntu3.2 0
500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty-updates/universe Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
1.3.9-17ubuntu3.1 0
500 http://security.ubuntu.com jaunty-security/universe Packages
1.3.9-17ubuntu1 0
500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/universe Packages
However, apt-show-versions shows:
# apt-show-versions | grep cupsys
cupsys/karmic *manually* upgradeable from 1.3.9-17ubuntu3.2 to 1.3.11-1
[..]
This is true for all upgraded packages. But it should show jaunty
instead. Or jaunty-updates/jaunty-security. But not karmic to allow to
list packages that were really installed from karmic.
for reference:
# lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 9.04
Release: 9.04
# apt-cache policy apt-show-versions
apt-show-versions:
Installed: 0.15
Candidate: 0.15
Version table:
0.16 0
1 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/universe Packages
*** 0.15 0
500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/universe Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
** Affects: apt-show-versions (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
