[Bug 362696] [NEW] partitioner hangs, create encrypted swap with random key

Public bug reported:

Kubuntu alternate install CD 8.04.2

2 internal disks, one old scsi, one old ide
scsi is boot disk

scsi-part1 /boot with ext3
scsi-part2 for swap
scsi-part3 physical for raid

ide-part1 other
ide-part2 other
ide-part3 physical for raid

raid 1 using scsi-part3 and ide-part3

I set up a 500 mb primary partition on scsi-part2 as "physical for encryption".
I set "random" (not passphrase)

The bug happens when I go to "configure encryption".
It requests random characters, it seems to do its job, then it wants to jump back to the partitioner.

At this point, the partitioner gets stuck. At 42% or 47%.

I used a variation of my test, I set the raid1 volume as "physical for
encryption", too, with passphrase.

So, if I have two physical encrypted volumes and jump to "configure
encryption", it will ask me for the passphrase of the raid1 volume,
collect random chars, but finally gets stuck with the same problem as
above.

The good news: When I skip the partitioned swap, having only the raid1
as encrypted, it works just fine...

So, where does it get stuck?
I used the console-2, ran ps. I saw it gets stuck at 31-initmd something.
I killed both partman and that 31-initmd and tried to run it manually.
This gives me an endless scrolling blank screen, and as soon as I press CTRL-C to interrupt, it tells me being unable to create infifo in the /var/lib/partman dir.
Yes, that file exists and ls says it's of type "p" (first char).
When I delete that file and re-run the 31-initmd, it creates the file (not "p") and complains about outfifo...
When I re-run the installer using the menu on console-1 (after having killed it with ps) running the partitioner does nothing, it shows the progress bar, then jumps back to the menu immediately...

So, if you'd like to fix this, hopefully you can reproduce this "getting stuck" yourself by trying to install with "manual partitioning", configuring such a swap partition, designate as physical for encryption and go to encryption.

FWIW the affected has formerly been a plain swap partition. During my
first attempt it complained about having an encrypted volume (on raid-1)
and a plain swap, so I changed that. I used "delete data on this
partition" to make sure it no longer sees it was swap in the past.
