[Bug 361478] [NEW] acroread 9 in hardy overrides application settings in firefox

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: acroread

I installed the latest acroread package :

acroread:
  Installed: 9.1.0-7hardy1
  Candidate: 9.1.0-7hardy1
  Version table:
 *** 9.1.0-7hardy1 0
        500 http://archive.canonical.com hardy/partner Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

and now firefox 3 doesn't follow the "always ask" setting for what to do
with pdfs. When a pdf link is clicked on, it automatically loads in
acroread 9 in firefox. This is something I do *not* wish to have
happen. Is this a bug in acroread, or is there a nice way to remove the
plugin that adobe is installing?

This bug occurs on a fully-updated Hardy install.

** Affects: acroread (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
