Public bug reported:

I have home made dvd videos that have a 720x576 PAL size but the aspect ratio info (DAR) is 16:9 so, when played, the player (I made tests with totem and mplayer) rescale them to the correct move aspect (1024x576).
The problems is that if I rip them with Thoggen DVD Ripper the movies are ripped in 720x576 but the aspect ratio info is preserved in the ogv file (in fact if I play them I see that the player rescales them to 1024x576) but if I rip them with Acidrip (mpg format, lavac video codec with vcodec option set to mpeg1video, crop and scale disabled) the format of video files is 720x576 but with no DAR info so the player plays them with wrong aspect ratio (to correct the issue I have to force the player to play the video with aspect ratio 16:9).
I know that mpg format supports DAR so I don't know if it's a missing option in acidrip or a simple bug.
Another workaround is to rip the video, with acidrip, setting a scale size of 1000x562 (this is about 16:9 as in acidrip, or mencoder, it seems that we cannot scale with a value larger than 1000) but it is not the same as ripping a video in "pure" PAL format and then displaying it with a certain DAR.

Tested with Ubuntu Hardy and Acidrip 0.14-0.2ubuntu5

** Affects: acidrip (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
