Here we are:

* the resolution I get now is 1024x768
* the native resolution of my monitor is 1280x800 and it is a laptop lcd, so it is connected directly with an inside flat cable
* xrandr and lspci output in later posts
* same for Xorg log with debug enabled
* i'll try to downgrade too after i've enabled the debug mode
