Hi,
the following bugs have been reported by me due to a fresh install of ubuntu 8.10 on a new computer: 270327, 296949, 297763, 297766. This install is continuously producing corrupted file errors when downloading files. I have ruled out (onboard forcedeth) network card failure by using a different network card (PCI). I have replaced the hard disk but errors persist.
I have tried both 32bit and amd64 versions of ubuntu 8.10, both resluting in the same errors. Out of desperation I installed Windows XP, which does not show errors at all, neither does Opensuse 11.
Here are the specs of the GIGABYTE GA-M56S-S3 motherboard:(http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Spec.aspx?ProductID=2607)
It also has:
1 AMD Athlon 64 x2 2000
1 KINGSTON DDR2 2 GB @ 667MHZ
1 NVIDIA GEFORCE PCI- EXPRESS FX 8400GS 512MB
1 SEAGATE 320GB SATA 3,5” 8MB 7200

I cannot provide any more information right now.
