Hi, thanks for reporting this.

I tried this with the files you provided, and vlc segfaults. BUT i have
also tried with several of my own files (with different types of
characters in filename) , and vlc does _not_ crash. This makes me think
there is something strange with your files...

VLC is not a photo viewer, so when opening a file, it just opens it and
when it reaches EOF (end-of-file) it closes the video window. That is
most likely the intended behavior, no reason to have a piece of code
just to view images in a video player.

This bug should probably be closed.
