I'm not using compiz, I removed also all the compiz-* packages to be sure it wasn't its problem.
If there's some info I can provide you just tell me, I'm using this box at work but I cannot be productive with these xorg bugs.

btw: on 8.04 everything was ok, I never had a freeze, except for the
screensaver but that was another problem.
