Public bug reported:

I'm experiencing jitter (variable latencies) when playing USB MIDI
instruments.

The problem is subtle on my regular MIDI keyboard (an m-audio keystation
49e), but very pronounced (to the point of unplayability) on my wind
controller (yamaha wx11 though a m-audio midisport 2x2). Might be
because the wind controller emits more messages?

I tried the 2.6.27-4-rt kernel from Alessio's PPA, to no avail.

The 2.6.27-7-generic kernel actually performs adequately!

Shot in the dark: one difference I noticed is that the -generic kernel
uses IO-APIC for IRQ routing, whereas the -rt kernel uses XT-PIC.

** Affects: linux-rt (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
