Me too. Any ideas for workarounds? I am a bit confised as according to
http://oprofile.sourceforge.net/faq/, the error would mean that
/dev/oprofile/cpu_type is empty.

# more /dev/oprofile/cpu_type
i386/p6
# lsmod | grep oprofile
oprofile               38176  1
