I can confirm that this symptom is fixed for the following software:
       
        1) Linux version 2.6.27-7-generic (buildd at palmer) (gcc version 4.3.2 (Ubuntu 4.3.2-1ubuntu11) ) #1 SMP Tue Nov 4    19:33:20 UTC 2008
      
        2) cgmail 0.5  ( software available here - http://cgmail.tuxfamily.org/#download )
