I marked it as confirmed and updated the description of the bug as it
has changed, I hope someone will correct it, it seems it should be
fairly easy.

** Summary changed:

- n-m-openvpn fails to pull routes
+ In n-m-openvpn, "Ignore automatically obtained routes" does the opposite

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: network-manager-openvpn

- A functionality I often use with OpenVPN is the pull option which allow you to receive settings from the VPN server (routes in my case).
- The configuration box of OpenVPN in NetworkManager allow a lot of things but not to turn on this "pull" parameter (which you simply have to pass to the openvpn command).
- I think that functionality is actually used by a lot of big OpenVPN servers which need to send several routes or DHCP-like options to their client.
+ OpenVPN has a pull option which allows you to receive (pull) settings from the VPN server (routes or DNS servers). This functionality works with network-manager-openvpn, but the way to achieve it is very confusing.
+ In the NM connection manager checking
+ IPv4 Settings > Routes... > Ignore automatically obtained routes
+ actually causes to obtain the routes, quite the contrary what one would expect. If it is not checked, the routes and are not pulled.
+
+ As a sidenote - DNS servers are also pulled, so maybe the string should
+ be something like " Ignore automatically obtained routes and DNS
+ servers", but I am no usability expert to support it.

** Tags removed: feisty

** Changed in: network-manager-openvpn (Ubuntu Intrepid)
       Status: Incomplete => Confirmed

** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 269071
Intrepid regression: default route is no longer redirected over VPN tunnel
