Hi,
I think this is the bug that appeared with a new xorg release... it's solved in Debian via the build-dependencies, but can also be fixed by disabling the function in src/client/xhacks.h - there is just one function Disable_emulate3buttons in there, which used to disable mouse emulation for the duration of the game, but now querying with the function XF86MiscGetMouseSettings in the way that used to work seems to crash the application.
