Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ffmpeg

Ubuntu 8.04.1
synaptic 0.61ubuntu9

I expected, when using apt-get -f install or synaptic to fix broken
files, that the files would be fixed and allow me to update my system,
but I have been unable to with the following errors and information

I originally tried to update codecs for xine mediaplayer. The update crashed, either due to connection died or program crashed. Now when I try to apt-get ugrade or even use other package managers it gives me following errors (apt-get upgrade)
E: Invalid archive signature

apt-get -f install doesn't work, dpkg fix's mentioned online don't work.
No clue how to fix it.

Also, synaptic package manager says I have 1 broken package on my system
and identifies it as libxine1-ffmpeg, but when I try to fix it it it
"says" successful, but fails every time and I'm still unable to upgrade.
